It has been alleged that a bride named Helena Akhtar committed suicide after three months of marriage. The deceased Helena is the wife of Ismail Hose, son of Nurul Islam of Charagaon border village Jangalbari of North Sreepur union of Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj.
After recovering the body from her husband’s house on Friday (September 6) evening, the police sent the bride to the district headquarters hospital morgue for autopsy. On Friday night, the father of deceased Helena confirmed the suicide of his daughter Murshid Mia, a resident of Banshtala, Charagaon Shimandagram of Helena upazila, at her husband’s house.
At noon that day, Helena went to the bedroom of the homestead after having lunch with the whole family at her husband’s house, Jangalbari. Husband Ismail Hossain also left the house.
Helena committed suicide by twisting the veil around her neck in the bedroom of her husband’s house, in the absence of everyone in the family.
