Abdul Hannan (52), the main accused in the case of beating a man to death for preventing cows from grazing in the cemetery in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj, has been arrested and sent to jail. Bahubal Model Police Station took him to court yesterday afternoon and sent him to jail.
The arrested Abdul Hannan is the son of Abdus Shahid of Dakshin Daulatpur village of Upazila.
Bahubal Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Islam told The Daily Morning Sun that a team of RAB-Shaestaganj camp raided the bungalow of the manager of Rampur tea garden in Bahubal upazila on Saturday morning. Abdul Hannan was arrested from there.
After RAB arrested him, he was handed over to Bahubal Model Police Station, and the police arrested him in the Tajul murder case and produced him in court.
The deceased Tajul Islam is the son of Sirajul Islam of Dakshin Daulatpur village of Vadeshwar union in Bahubal.
According to the police, recently when the locals decided that cows and goats cannot be grazed in the village cemetery, Sonahar Mia of Dakshinpara disobeyed it. Tajul stopped him when he went to graze cows and goats in the cemetery on the morning of October 9. Later the people of Sonahar got angry and attacked Tajul. At that time he died on the spot of chest injury.
Later on October 13, Saidul Islam, the younger brother of Tajul, who died, filed a murder case against nine people at Bahubal Model Police Station.
