303 more people have been admitted to hospital with dengue in the country. However, no one died of dengue at this time. 1 thousand 742 have been admitted to the hospital with dengue in the last one week. During this time, three people died of this disease carried by Aedes mosquito.

This information was revealed in the press release of the Health and Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health yesterday Saturday. It is said that in the last 24 hours (from 8:00 AM on Friday to 8:00 AM yesterday), the maximum number of 108 patients with dengue have been admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka South City Corporation area.

On the other hand, 91 dengue patients have been admitted in various hospitals of Chittagong, 50 in Dhaka North City Corporation area hospitals, 30 in various hospitals in Barisal, 15 in various hospitals in Dhaka Division, 5 in Mymensingh Division Hospital, 3 in Khulna Division Hospital and 1 in Dhaka Division Hospital.

From last January till yesterday morning, 10 thousand 959 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the country. Among the affected people, 61.3 percent are men and 38.7 percent are women.

The incidence of dengue usually increases during the rainy season. So far this year dengue incidence is less than last year; But the number of patients has been increasing for almost two weeks. Due to the rains that have been falling for the past one week, the number of dengue cases is increasing, public health specialist Bay Nazir Ahmed believes. He told the media that now is the dengue season. Meanwhile, the rain has accelerated its spread. The risk of mosquitoes increases due to water accumulation due to rain. If proper measures are not taken now, the dengue outbreak may increase in the coming months.

Although dengue is more common during the rainy season, in 2022, the highest dengue infection in the country occurred in the month of October. This time too, after the rainy season, the fear of increasing dengue trend cannot be ruled out. He said that the dengue control activities of the city corporations had reduced a lot during the agitation since July. Now it should be increased seriously.

So far 77 people have died due to dengue this year. Out of this, 21 people have died so far in the month of August. 51.9 percent of them are women and 48.1 percent are men. At this time, the highest number of 47 people died of dengue in Dhaka South City Corporation hospital.

In 2000, the first large-scale outbreak of dengue occurred in the country. Since then there have been dengue outbreaks every year. 2020 was the exception. Corona epidemic occurred that year. There were few dengue patients in the country, there were no deaths due to dengue as per official. As soon as the corona epidemic did not end, dengue increased again from 2021.
