A nationwide operation called Operation Devil Hunt has been launched to improve the law and order situation.
District Superintendent of Police MK H Jahangir Hossain confirmed this information on Tuesday (February 11).
Police said that 44 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations have been arrested in raids conducted at various police stations in the district in the last two days.
The arrested are – Srimangal Mirzapur Union Awami League Vice President Karunamoy Deb, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Abdul Malek, Talimpur Awami League Sports Secretary Faizur Rahman, West Juri Union Jubo League President Radhakanta Das, Kulaura Upazila Krishak League Former General Secretary Kamal Ahmed, Juri Upazila Awami League Vice President Abdun Noor and Kalapur Union Banned Chhatra League Vice President Nasimur Rahman Mashrafe. Apart from this, the rest of the arrested are known to be leaders and activists of various union and ward levels.
