Market monitoring activities have been conducted in Jaintapur to keep consumer goods within the purchasing range of the common people during the holy month of Ramadan and against syndicated price increases.

On Tuesday (March 4), at around 12:30 noon, Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate George Mitra Chakma came to monitor the Darvast Bazar of Jaintapur Upazila.

At that time, he visited various daily necessities shops in the Darvast Bazar area. At that time, he monitored various issues such as expired products, purchase price receipts, and display of sale price lists in the shops.

Later, he monitored various raw goods and vegetable shops in the Darvast Bazar. During the monitoring, a fine of 7 thousand taka was collected from two grocery and two raw goods shops for irregularities and lack of price lists.

At this time, the Jaintapur Model Police Station team was present along with the upazila administration in the market monitoring.

In this regard, Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer George Mitra Chakma said that a meeting has already been held with the traders to keep the market of daily necessities at a tolerable level during the holy month of Ramadan. From now on, the administration will continue monitoring activities in every market of the upazila. In addition to collecting fines from four establishments today, various establishments have been initially warned. He confirmed that strict action will be taken against them if evidence is found of creating an artificial shortage of any goods by holding the general public hostage.
