A youth was killed while cutting grass in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj district.

Police recovered the body of the youth with his throat slit from the cropland of Rouyail village in Raniganj union of the upazila around 5 pm on Friday.

The deceased youth is Syedul Islam (24), son of Yunus Mia of Megharkandi village.

Police and locals said that Syedul Islam went to Rouyail village to cut grass around 10 am on Friday. When he did not return home until the afternoon, his family members went out to look for him. At one stage, locals found his throat slit body in the cropland of Rouyail village. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Syedul’s father Yunus Mia said, “My son has been brutally murdered. I want justice for those involved.” I will file a case.’

In this regard, Jagannathpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan said, “The body has been recovered after receiving information. The young man has head injuries, cuts on his neck and injury marks on various parts of his body. Blood-stained scissors have been recovered from the scene. The OC also said that the body will be sent to the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue on Saturday morning for an autopsy. The case is under process. The police are working to arrest those involved.
