In August this year, the United Nations food price index decreased slightly. Such information has been reported in the statistics published on Friday.
The price index compiled by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization fell to 120.7 points. This point was 121 points in July.
Food prices hit their highest in March 2022 following Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The FAO index then fell to a three-year low in February this year.
The value is 1.1 percent lower than a year ago and 24.7 percent lower than March 2022.
In September this year, FAO forecast crop production to fall by 2.8 million metric tons to 2.851 billion tons in 2024.
The indications are that crop production will drop due to hot and dry weather, mainly in the European Union, Mexico and Ukraine. Source: Reuters
