LEGAL ACTION IF DIRECTED ON CORRUPTED FOREIGN TRAVEL BAN: IGP

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said that action will be taken in accordance with the law if the corrupt and those accused of corruption are instructed to ban foreign travel.

He said this in response to questions from journalists after the rally on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Dhaka Range at Segunbagicha in the capital on Monday.

The IGP said that the police force is committed to zero tolerance policy against corruption. Action will be taken if there is a specific complaint against anyone. Police cannot stop anyone at any time. You have to go through the law.

He said that the Dhaka range has been serving the people. I myself was DIG of this range at one time. Then I tried to find out the history of Dhaka range. It was a very difficult task. The current DIG has collected a lot of information. At present Dhaka range is being managed with 96 police stations.

Additional IGP (Administration) Kamrul Ahsan, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Dhaka Range DIG Syed Nurul Islam and senior police officers were present.

Unit heads sign APA with IGP: Earlier in the morning, the annual performance agreement (APA) of 36 units of the force for the financial year 2024-25 was signed with the police headquarters. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun signed the agreement with the unit heads as the chief guest. The Annual Performance Agreement was signed at the Hall of Pride at Police Headquarters.

The event was presided over by Additional IG (Administration). Kamrul Ahsan. Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) gave a welcome speech. Atiqul Islam

Heads of different units of Dhaka Police were present at the event. Besides, heads of other police units were connected virtually.

In the speech of the chief guest, the IGP said that the transparency and accountability of a government institution is ensured through the annual performance contract.

The IGP directed all concerned to fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity in achieving and implementing the objectives of APA.
