Former chairman of Srimangal Upazila Parishad of Moulvibazar and treasurer of Srimangal Upazila Awami League Bhanulal Roy has been sent to jail.
On Monday (September 23), Bhanula surrendered to the judicial court and sought bail in a case, the Moulvibazar Chief Judicial Magistrate denied her bail and ordered her to be sent to jail.
It is known that Abdul Qadir Talukder, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement of Moulvibazar district, filed a case against more than 150 Awami League and party organization leaders on August 4 on charges of assault and torture on students in Moulvibazar. When he went to appear in court in that case, the judge denied him bail and ordered him to be sent to jail. Earlier, he was on temporary bail in that case on the orders of the High Court.
Moulvibazar Court Inspector Sibendra Chandra Das confirmed to Morningsun that Bhanulal Roy was sent to jail.
