Adviser to the Ministry of Industry Adilur Rahman Khan sought the cooperation of the UK government to bring back the money smuggled from Bangladesh at various times.

When British Deputy High Commissioner and Development Director James Goldman appointed to Bangladesh came to meet in the office of the Industrial Adviser at the Secretariat on Monday, he sought this cooperation.

The British Deputy High Commissioner expressed his determination to cooperate in bringing back the money laundered from Bangladesh through legal process.

The industrial adviser said that Britain has been a trusted development partner of Bangladesh for a long time. Britain was the first to recognize Bangladesh among the countries of the European Union. The two countries have excellent bilateral relations in terms of trade and investment. It is possible to move this bilateral relationship to a higher level by working together.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Zakia Sultana, Additional Secretary Md. Salim Ullah and senior officials of the Ministry were present at this time.

The senior secretary of the Ministry of Industry said that a bilateral capital investment and protection agreement was signed between Bangladesh and Great Britain on June 19, 1980. Through this agreement, the direct foreign investment protection of the two countries has been ensured. He expressed his intention to renew the agreement.

The senior secretary urged the UK to invest more in leather, sugar, ship recycling, fertilisers, cement, textiles, pharmaceuticals, environment and climate related projects and other sectors.

The British Deputy High Commissioner expressed support to the interim government and said that Bangladesh and the United Kingdom are working together and can work more intensively by forming a specialized team.
