An expatriate younger brother was killed by his elder brother’s scissors in Companiganj, Sylhet. The incident occurred on Monday (April 28) morning in Bagjur village of Ichakols union of the upazila.

The deceased expatriate is Rubel Ahmed (25), son of the late Haji Ashiq Mia of the village. He came to the country on leave two and a half months ago. He was supposed to go to Saudi Arabia on May 4.

According to local and police sources, there was a dispute with his elder brother Zakaria over a land dispute. On Monday morning, the locals sat for mediation to resolve the family dispute. At one stage, his elder brother hit him on the head with scissors. Later, he was rescued injured and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment at around 8 pm on Monday night.

Companyganj Police Station OC (Investigation) Sujan Chandra Karmakar confirmed the truth of this matter to The Daily Morning Sun. He said, the body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after the autopsy. The police operation to arrest the accused is ongoing.
