Although the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted an operation to prevent smuggling at the Sylhet-Sunamganj border, the smuggling trade has not stopped in any way. As part of a series of operations, a smart team of (BGB) raided the Sylhet border on Sunday (September 29) and seized illegal Indian goods worth around a quarter of a crore rupees. A large quantity of powder, sand-stones, betel nuts and lethal liquor were seized. Apart from that, barque boats for stone extraction were also seized.
48 BGB captain Lt. Col. Hafizur Rahman (PSC) said in a press release that on Sunday morning (September 29), 855 kg of Indian chicory powder, 4 thousand 440 kg of sugar, betel nuts, sand-stones and drugs were seized in the border area of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts. The estimated value of these is 74 lakh 79 thousand 150 taka. Also during the operation, BGB also seized a boat illegally extracting stones.
The seized goods will be submitted to the local customs office.
