The court sentenced 7 people, including the freedom fighter and his wife and children, to life imprisonment and at the same time fined them 50 thousand rupees for the murder of the sensational Jasim Khan (27) in Nazirpur of Pirojpur. Each was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in default. At the same time, 10 people were acquitted as they were not involved in the incident.

Pirojpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Court on Monday. Moktagir Alam gave this verdict.

The life convicts are – Delwar Sheikh (48), son of deceased Hatim Ali Sheikh of Chhota Buichakathi village of Sadar Union of the upazila, Abul Sheikh (58), son of Hashem Sheikh of the same village, Babul Mallik (49), son of Mozam Mallik, and freedom fighter Sirajul Haque Sheikh (son of Afsar Ali Sheikh). 71), his wife Fatema Begum (58), son Raju Sheikh (31) and Zafar Sheikh (58), son of Rasul Sheikh of Umajhuri village in Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat district.

The acquitted are- Hafez Zahurul Islam Sheikh, Hajera Begum, Imarat Khan, Rabeya Begum, Babu Mir, Abdur Rab Sheikh, Zafar Sheikh. Apart from this, the accused Hatim Ali Sheikh and Razzak Mallik died during the murder case.

According to the source of the case, on the morning of April 25, 2011, the plaintiff Raju Khan and his younger brother Jasim Khan came out of their house in Buichakathi due to a dispute over land. At that time, they beat and injured plaintiff Raju Khan. After receiving the information, the police came and rescued the injured Jasim and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared him dead.

APP Zahurul Islam, the government side in the case, said that the verdict was announced in the presence of the accused.

The investigating officer of the case submitted the investigation report accusing 19 people. Among them, 7 people got life, 10 people were acquitted and 2 people died.

Kazi Elias Hossain, the lawyer for the accused, said that he will appeal against the verdict in the high court.
