Former Member of Parliament (MP) of Sunamganj-5 Constituency Mohibur Rahman Manik alias Boma Manik has been sent to jail by the court. When he was brought to court on Thursday (October 10) morning, Judge Alamgir Hossain of the Judicial Magistrate Court ordered him to be sent to jail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sunamganj Sadar Police Station Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter.
Abdul Hamid, the lawyer for the accused, said that Manik was not present at the time of the attack on the students. Still he was accused. He said, this former MP is now very ill. We have applied for his treatment and division in jail. Also, as there is no specific court today, his bail will be heard on October 15.
Earlier, RAB arrested him from Bashundhara residential area of the capital on Tuesday (October 8) night.
Hafiz Ali, the brother of the student injured in the anti-discrimination student movement, filed a case in the Sunamganj speedy court judge Nirjan Mitra’s court, accusing 99 people as the plaintiff. Basically the former MP has been arrested in this case.
