Former Agriculture Minister Abdus Shahid transferred to Moulvibazar Jail

Former Agriculture Minister of the Awami League government Md. Abdus Shahid has been transferred from Dhaka Central Jail to Moulvibazar District Jail.

The former minister was brought to Moulvibazar Jail in a prison van on Sunday (November 24) afternoon.

Moulvibazar District Jail Superintendent Mohammad Mujibur Rahman Majumder said that former Agriculture Minister Abdus Shahid was transferred from Dhaka Jail to Moulvibazar Jail in a case in Srimangal. He will be produced before the Moulvibazar court on November 27.

He was elected from Moulvibazar-4 (Srimangal-Kamalganj) in the National Assembly elections. Abdus Shahid has been elected as a member of parliament for 7 consecutive terms from the Moulvibazar-4 parliamentary constituency. Abdus Shahid started his teaching career by joining Kamalganj Gana Mahavidyalaya in Moulvibazar in 1973. He is the president of the Bangabandhu Shishu Academy Central Committee and a member of the presidium of the Awami Jubo League Central Committee.
On the night of October 3, police raided Abdus Shahid’s Uttara residence and arrested him.
