A tribal woman was kidnapped and raped in the jungle in Sylhet. Police have arrested two people involved in the incident. They were sent to jail through a court on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday evening in Kalairag village of Uttar Ronikhai Union in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet.

The arrested are Pradeep Das, son of the deceased Lalit Das of Kalairag village of Companiganj upazila, and Ala Uddin, son of the deceased Abdul Hasim of the same village.

Police said that on Sunday evening at around 6:15 pm, a tribal woman from Guchchagram in Companiganj was kidnapped from the road in front of Ala Uddin’s house and taken to a jungle on the banks of the Dhalai river. First, Pradeep Das raped the woman. Later, when Ala Uddin tried to rape her, the woman skillfully ran away by sprinkling sand in her eyes.

The victim filed a case with the Companiganj Police Station on Monday, and the police conducted a raid and arrested the two accused.

Companiganj Police Station OC Uzayer Al Mahmud Adnan said that the victim has been admitted to the Osmani Medical College Hospital’s OCC. The two arrested people have been sent to jail through the court.
