Police have arrested a drug dealer with Indian Escafe syrup in Srimangal, Moulvibazar.
On Friday (April 18), a police team led by SI Sajeeb Chowdhury, under the overall guidance of Srimangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Aminul Islam, conducted a raid in Kunjaban village of Sindurkhan Union of the upazila. During this, drug dealer Ripon Mia (29), son of Abdur Rahman, was arrested.
During the raid, the police searched Ripon Mia’s house and recovered 45 bottles of Escafe syrup, which is banned from Indian import.
Srimangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam said that Escafe syrup is a drug that comes from India illegally. It is being consumed as an alternative to phensedyl by drug addicts. A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against the arrested Ripon at Srimangal Police Station and he was sent to jail through the Moulvibazar District Magistrate’s Court.
