Sheikh Jasim in jail in extortion case of French expatriate

The learned judge of Moulvibazar No. 2 Administrative Court has ordered the arrest and imprisonment of Sheikh Jasim Uddin (35) in the extortion case (Case No. 373/2024) filed by young industrial entrepreneur Md. Hafizur Rahman, a French expatriate in Srimangal, Moulvibazar.

After a long investigation, the Moulvibazar Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted an investigation report to the learned court after finding out the truth of the incident and submitted the investigation report to the learned court for further action.

On Sunday (July 13) morning, when he appeared in the learned court and sought bail, the learned court rejected his bail and ordered his imprisonment.

The arrested Sheikh Jasim Uddin, a resident of Srimangal Upazila No. 4 Son of Sheikh Md. Jitu Mia of Srigaon village of Sindurkhan union.

Published from the case statement and PBI investigation report – France expatriate Md. Hafizur Rahman started the work of the farm by building a boundary wall in Sharergaj mouza. The responsibility of the said farm was given to his elder brother Mohibur Rahman and cousin Jafar. When the workers went to work in the farm, Sheikh Jasim Uddin created a barrier and demanded a ransom of 2 lakh taka. And threatened to demolish the farm if the demanded money was not paid. Although the matter was informed to the local dignitaries, since it was not resolved, France expatriate Md. Hafizur Rahman filed a complaint in the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, Moulvibazar (CR- Case No. 373/2024 (Sri). The learned court directed the PBI, Moulvibazar to investigate the said case. The police found out that the extortion and intimidation were being shown to the workers to work in the farm. Bureau of Investigation (PBI), learned Senior Judicial Magistrate, No. 2, Moulvibazar, filed an investigation report against Sheikh Jasim Uddin in the court. It is learned that several cases against Sheikh Jasim Uddin, including CR Case No. 369/24 (Sri), Executive Magistrate Court Case No. 320/24 (Sri) and others, are pending in the learned court and under investigation.
