In Srimangal, Moulvibazar district, a Juba League member named Muhibur Rahman Akhlish was hacked and injured by Sindurkhan Union Juba League member Kazi Farid Uddin.

Juba League member Kazi Farid Uddin has been arrested by Srimangal Police in this incident.

On Wednesday (August 27) morning, while expatriate Muhibur Rahman Akhlish was taking his daughter to school, Kazi Farid Uddin hacked him with a knife and injured him on the head, hands and various parts of his body. Later, Akhlish was rescued by his relatives in a seriously injured condition and first taken to the Upazila Health Complex. There, when his condition was critical, he was sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital. Later, after receiving information from 999, Srimangal Police arrested Juba League member Kazi Farid Uddin.

It is learned that when Saudi Arabian expatriate Muhibur Rahman Akhliche took the initiative to build a house and a fence on his purchased land, Farid Uddin stopped the construction of the house and demanded extortion. It is also known that Farid Uddin had been harassing Akhliche by filing various false cases for not paying the extortion.

Locals said that Farid Uddin, a member of the Jubo League that toppled the Sheikh Hasina government, has now become reckless in the area after going into hiding for a few days.

Expatriate Akhliche Mia was supposed to hold a press conference at the Srimangal Press Club on Wednesday, August 27. Farid Uddin, enraged by this news, attacked Akhliche.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srimangal Police Station Aminul Islam said, “We arrested Farid Uddin and brought him to the police station after the incident. Legal action will be taken against him.”
