No possibility of rigging the election: Home Affairs Advisor

Gazipur Correspondent //

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, there is no possibility of rigging or destabilizing the election. The militants and terrorists who were there after August 5 have fled to different countries. We request that other countries return these militants and fascists to us.

He said these things as the chief guest at the basic training graduation parade of the new prison guards who completed the 63rd batch of women prison guards’ basic training course at Kashimpur Prison Complex in Gazipur on Tuesday (January 27) morning.

The Home Affairs Advisor said, during the tenure of this interim government, no appointment has been made in any force through corruption or lobbying. Corruption is the biggest enemy of the state. Corruption not only causes economic damage; it erodes state institutions from within and breaks the trust of the people. If a prison member acts for personal gain, greed or political advantage, he not only breaks the law—he also weakens the foundation of the state. A prison member is not the protector of any vested interest group—he is a government employee paid by the tax money of the innocent people of the state. Public welfare is his only vow.

He said, the path that the new prison guards are going to tread today is honorable, but at the same time difficult and challenging. You have prepared yourself to fulfill this great responsibility through long and rigorous physical, mental and academic training. This achievement is very important for your personal life as well as for the state and the people.

The Home Affairs Advisor further said that prisons are very sensitive and important institutions and an integral part of the criminal justice system. Prisons ensure the safe detention of prisoners through the state’s judicial system, and the role of the prison administration is very important in the process of crime prevention, correction of criminals and social rehabilitation. It is the responsibility of the state to return prisoners to society as reformed citizens while preserving their basic human rights. The role of trained and humane prison guards is undeniable.

The role of prison guards is very important in creating a non-discriminatory, fair, transparent and accountable prison administration, bearing in mind the great responsibility of patriotism. He expressed hope that the new trainees will play an effective role in implementing this through honesty, efficiency and professionalism.
