Public Works Commission (PSC) chairman. 12 members including Sohrab Hossain resigned. They submitted their resignations to the PSC secretary on Tuesday afternoon.
PSC Secretary Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury said that 12 members of the commission including the PSC chairman have submitted their resignations. We have sent these resignation letters to the President. The remaining three have not yet submitted their resignations. They will submit by tomorrow (Wednesday).
The members who resigned are- Former Senior Secretary Faiz Ahmed, Former Professor Uttam Kumar Saha, Former Executive Director Zahidur Rashid, Professor Mubina Khandkar, Professor Delwar Hossain, Former Senior Secretary KM Ali Azam, Former Secretary Khalilur Rahman, Former Director General of Maushi Professor Syed Md. . Golam Farooq, former senior secretary Makchudur Rahman, former secretary Najmanara Khatun, N Siddika Khanam and Rajshahi University professor Pradeep Kumar Pandey.
However, 2 members have not yet submitted their resignations. They are former senior secretary Helaluddin Ahmad, former secretary and former additional IGP Shafiqul Islam.
Sohrab Hossain joined the post of PSC Chairman on 21 September 2020. His tenure was till 21 September 2025. After the fall of the Awami League government in the students’ uprising, there was a demand for the resignation of the entire commission including the PSC chairman. The coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement have been demanding PSC reforms for several days.
Sohrab Hossain held various important positions during his career including Rector of BCS Academy of Administration. He is a 1984 batch officer of Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre.
Sohrab Hossain became the chairman of PSC after the tenure of Mohammad Sadiq, the former chairman of Bangladesh Public Works Commission PSC.
