Applications for admission to government and private schools from class 1 to 9 are starting today (Tuesday, November 12). Students can apply online from 11 am. This process will continue until 5 pm on November 30.
After the application, students will be selected and admitted through a digital lottery. This time the admission application fee has been set at Tk 110. This fee will have to be paid through state-owned mobile service provider Teletalk.
After the digital lottery, the admission process will start on December 17. It will continue until December 21. And admission from the first waiting list will start from December 22 to December 24. And admission from the second waiting list will continue from December 26 to December 30.
The number of students required for any class branch cannot be more than 55. In the information form, the heads of institutions in Dhaka metropolis will determine a maximum of three police stations adjacent to the institution as the ‘catchment’ area.
The quota for admission to government and private schools is 68 percent. Of these, 40 percent is the catchment area quota. In addition, 5 percent is reserved for the children of heroic and martyred freedom fighters, 1 percent for the children of officials and employees of the Ministry of Education and subordinate departments and organizations, 10 percent for the former students of government primary schools, 2 percent for students with special needs, and 5 percent for twins and siblings of studying students.
However, this time a slight change has been made in the quota system. Until now, there was a rule to reserve 5 percent quota for the admission of grandchildren if the sons and daughters of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters and sons and daughters were not available. According to the new decision, only 5 percent quota will be reserved for the sons and daughters of heroic freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters. If students are not available in this quota, they will have to be admitted to this seat from the merit list.
At the end of each year, the admission process for the next year begins. After the admission, classes start in January. Earlier, only the first class admission was done through lottery. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, students were admitted to schools through a lottery for all classes in the 2021 academic year. Since then, students are being selected for admission through the same process.
