Case against 8 people including DIG Anis of Rajshahi

A case has been filed against 8 people including former Superintendent of Police and present DIG of Rajshahi Division Anisur Rahman in the case of extrajudicial killing. After arresting a youth named Abu Saeed of Jaipur village of Manirampur upazila of Jessore, they have been accused of killing him in crossfire.

Abu Saeed’s wife Parveen Khatun filed this case in Manirampur Amli Court as plaintiff on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Imran Ahmed ordered the DIG of Khulna range of police to investigate the incident and submit a report. Plaintiff’s lawyer Shahid Iqbal confirmed this.

The accused in the case are – Molya Khabir Ahmed, the then OC of Manirampur police station of Jessore, SI Tasmeem Ahmed, SI Shaheen, Subrata Singh, son of deceased Durgapad Singh of Durgapur village, Matiur Rahman, son of Jinar Ali, Montaj Ali, son of member of deceased Nowsher Ali of Jaipur village, Abdul Mannan, deceased of Khordganga village. Son Feroz Ahmed.

It is mentioned in the complaint that on February 17, 2015, the police arrested Abu Saeed from the shop of village doctor Bazlur Rahman in Jaipur Bazar of the upazila. Then the police beat him up and took him to the police station in a car. When the family members went to inquire, they were told that he had been arrested on the orders of the Superintendent of Police. He was then shown detained in a pending case and asked by the OC to contact Awami League leader Mumtaz Ali. Mumtaz Ali then demanded a huge sum of money. If he did not agree to pay the money, he performed Janazan Abu Saeed BNP and he is on the number one list of Crossfire.

The complaint also mentions that Abu Saeed was beaten inside the police station that night. Then late at night he was taken to Begaritla Namaksthan on Jessore-Satkhira highway and shot dead. The family was informed of his death the next morning. After that, the accused conspired to carry out the autopsy of Abu Saeed and sent the body home.

In the complaint, the plaintiff in the case claimed that when he tried to file a case regarding the death of Abu Saeed in police custody, he was chased away with threats without taking the case. He has filed this case in the court for the sake of justice as the environment is favorable now.

Anisur Rahman joined Jessore as Superintendent of Police on March 24, 2014. And served till August 19, 2018.
