Top Contraband, AC hanging in the press club with money donated by OC-UNO. That too in the Jaintapur press club office. Recently, there have been rumors in various circles about this. This event was organized under the supervision of an alleged journalist Nurul to provide an opportunity to contraband. Earlier, he was accused of embezzling money from the mosque committee. The matter reached the point of litigation. This put mainstream journalists in extreme trouble.
After investigation, it was learned that this yellow journalist Nurul has developed deep friendship with the contraband syndicate. He has been keeping himself in a big mess by taking advantage of that opportunity for a long time and taking various kinds of immoral benefits.
A source has confirmed that Nurul secretly conspired with a top smuggler listed in the intelligence of Fatehpur Union No. 5. He stipulated that he would not publish any kind of news related to smuggling in newspapers. Bound by that condition, he stole about 80 thousand taka in the name of the press club by promising to install AC. At one stage, he kept 40 thousand taka in his own pocket and started running around the administration to collect the rest of the money. Former extortionist OC Tajul Islam of Jaintapur Model Police Station and 34 BCS cadre UNO Umme Salik Rumaiya joined in this. It was decided to pay the money for that AC in installments. But after the transfer of OC Tajul, the newly appointed OC Abul Basar Mohammad Badruzzaman took the responsibility of paying the installments. They are working together in harmony by encouraging smugglers to follow the same conditions. If anyone tries to publish news without their company, they are attacked and sued. On the contrary, to harass journalists, special forces sometimes try to seize sources of stolen goods, smuggle drugs, and hold them hostage by applying the Digital Information Technology Act. Many times, journalists are kidnapped by smugglers and subjected to physical and mental torture. Even after August 5, this syndicate group is steadfast in its policy of “whatever you want, whatever you want”.
Meanwhile, the investigation has revealed that Nurul Islam has kept himself in great shape by allocating an important post in the Jaintapur Upazila Press Club. If there is an attack or sued against a journalist, he keeps himself even more hidden from the fact that he is not doing any proper supervision. He secretly tries to resolve it. Other fellow journalists are also in extreme trouble.
During the on-site investigation, it was learned that this yellow gang extorts daily, weekly and monthly extortions from every place of smuggling, sand and stone eating gang within Jaintapur upazila. Despite the upazila administration conducting a show-off operation, the Sylhet-Tamabil highway road is busy smuggling these products day and night. Although the Sylhet Metropolitan Police and the Detective Police DB are working on this, the Jaintapur Model Police Station under the district police is not budging for some unknown reason. Rather, all these smuggled goods are constantly being intercepted by the Shahparan (RA) Police Station and the Metropolitan Gayenda Police DB. Sometimes they are seen being caught in the army’s operation.
Several newsmen working in Jaintapur upazila, who did not want to be named, told the reporter that OC Abul Basar and Nurul leave the secret meeting almost at night. Besides, they extort the most extortion from Indian cows and buffaloes. The journalist took away two thousand taka from the car and the police took away five thousand taka. Jaintapur Bazar was used as a base for this.
The source further said that when journalist Nazmul faced threats, he took the side of OC Abul Basar’s extortionists to disrupt the pen break meeting and incited the Barki workers to use them to hold a human chain program. Later, when the situation became chaotic, he backed down.
When contacted on Nurul Islam’s mobile phone to inquire about this, he answered the phone and cut off the connection without answering the reporter’s question. When he tried to talk to OC Abul Basar on his mobile phone, his mobile phone was not received.
When UNO Umme Salik Rumaiya was spoken to on the above matter, she said that she did not know anything about this. However, she confirmed the transfer.
