Different areas of the country, including the capital, have been covered in a blanket of fog. For two days, the sun has not been visible in most parts of the country, including the capital. A northerly wind is blowing. It makes you shiver when you go outside. Vehicles are turning on their lights even during the day in northern towns.

The Meteorological Office says that although the temperature in December is higher than normal, it may set in cold this month. There may be more than one severe cold wave.

Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid said that such fog will remain for two to three more days. During this time, the cold will remain the same as now. After that, when the fog clears, the night temperature may gradually decrease and a cold wave may come. After January 6-7, the night temperature may drop below 10 degrees.

The long-term weather forecast says that one to three mild to moderate and one to two severe cold waves may blow in January. The Meteorological Department said that a mild cold wave has been blowing in Chuadanga district and Ishwardi upazila of Pabna for a day.

Cold is increasing in Panchagarh: The Tentulia Meteorological Office recorded the lowest temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh at 9 am today, Friday, in the current winter season. A mild cold wave is blowing. It was recorded in mid-December last year at 8.4 degrees. However, after two days of dense fog, the sun appeared in the morning. The minimum temperature on Thursday was 11.3 degrees. The daytime temperature (maximum) was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius.

The region is feeling bone-chilling cold in the cold wind from the north with light fog. The outbreak of cold has increased suffering in public life. Especially, daily wage laborers, agricultural workers, stone workers, rickshaw van drivers and other hard-working people are suffering more.

Jitendra Nath Roy, officer-in-charge of the Tentulia Meteorological Office, said that the lowest temperature of the current winter season was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius on Friday morning. At the same time, the humidity of the air was 99 percent and the speed was 10 to 12 kilometers per hour. A mild cold wave is blowing again in the areas around Tentulia. The intensity of the cold may increase further this week.

Generally, if the temperature is between 8.1 degrees and 10 degrees, a mild cold wave is considered to be blowing there. The country’s lowest temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga in the 24 hours till Thursday morning. During this time, the Meteorological Department recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi, Pabna. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in various places in the country was around 10 degrees. The lowest temperature was recorded in Dhaka at 13.8 degrees Celsius. And the highest temperature in the country was in Teknaf, 28 degrees Celsius.

Cold winds disrupt public life in Rajshahi –

The bitter cold and the cold winds from the north have brought disaster to the public life of the people of Rajshahi region. The lowest temperature recorded in the district at 6 am and 9 am yesterday was 10.5 degrees Celsius. The wind speed was 5 nautical miles. The humidity was 93 percent.

Officer-in-charge of the Rajshahi Meteorological Office, Rahidul Islam, said that the temperature had dropped to 9 degrees in early December. There was no cold wind then. A cold wind has been blowing from the northwest for two days. Due to this, the temperature has not dropped much, but the cold is being felt more. He also said that although there are light clouds in the sky, there is no forecast of rain. The cold will remain like this for the next few days, but the temperature will not drop much. The sky will be covered in thick fog from evening to morning. The sun may be visible around noon.

Sun not visible in Kurigram for three days –

Due to dense fog, the northern district of Kurigram, located in the foothills of the Himalayas, has not been visible for three days. The cold is being felt more throughout the district due to the cold wind. Fog is falling like rain from evening to the next morning. Even though it has passed 3 pm on Thursday, the sun has not been seen.

The local agricultural meteorological observatory said that the lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 9 am on this day at 11.3 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the blankets that are being allocated by the government to the distressed in the district to ward off the cold are insufficient compared to the need. Again, many have expressed the need for warm clothes rather than blankets. They also said that if the government provides sheets, mufflers, and jackets, the poor will benefit. On the ground, images of people’s suffering in the severe winter have been found in different areas of the district. In particular, the lower class and working class people are suffering more. They are spending their time idly without work.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abdul Hai Sarkar said that 12,000 blankets and 49 lakh taka have been allocated in two phases for 9 upazilas. Distribution is going on as per demand.

Winter-related diseases are increasing in Chuadanga-

After 22 days, the border district of Chuadanga has again been hit by a mild cold wave. The lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius at 6 am on Thursday.

Senior observer of the Chuadanga Meteorological Office, Rakibul Hasan, said that the lowest temperature in the district on Wednesday was 12 degrees Celsius. This temperature has decreased by 2 degrees Celsius in a day. In addition, the incidence of winter-related diseases has increased in the district in the last few days due to the increase in daytime temperatures and decrease in night temperatures. Most of the patients in the outpatient department of Chuadanga General Hospital were suffering from cold and flu.

Meanwhile, people of different classes and professions are having to go out for work despite the cold. Workers in the market and agricultural workers are suffering more. Many people who have come to the city in search of work have said that they are not getting work. Drivers are not getting enough passengers by coming to the city with rickshaws and vans despite the cold.
