Fifteen people, including two doctors, have been suspended from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for their involvement in the organized killings in front of the university’s cabin block during the anti-discrimination student uprising.
This information was given in an office order signed by BSMMU Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam on Sunday.
The office order said that as per the decision of the 94th meeting of the Syndicate held on December 12, the following doctors, nurses and staff working at the university involved in the organized killing in front of the cabin block of this university during the anti-discrimination student uprising have been suspended under Section 2 (g), (h), (i) and (8) of the Efficiency and Discipline Ordinance.
The suspended include Medical Officer of the Cardiology Department Dr. Abu Torab Ali Mim, Medical Officer of the Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Department Dr. Riaz Siddiqui Pran.
Painters of the Director (Hospital) Office Nitish Roy and Md. Saiful Islam have also been suspended. MLSS Kazi Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Dresser Shahidul Islam (Saidul), Sweeper Sandeep, Office Assistant of the Respiratory Medicine Department Ujjwal Molla, Driver of the Transport Branch Sujan Biswa Sharma, MLSS Fakrul Islam Joni of OPD-1, Customer Care Attendant of the Laboratory Service Center Rubel Rana, Staff Nurse of the Super Specialized Hospital Shabnam Noorani, MLSS Shahadat of the Ward Master’s Office, MLSS Munna Ahmed of the Cardiology Department, MLSS Anwar Hossain of the Ward Master’s Office.
The office order states that during the temporary suspension (suspension) period, the mentioned doctors, senior staff nurses and employees will receive salaries and allowances as per the prevailing rules of the university as per Section 14 of the Efficiency and Discipline Ordinance. It is to be noted that their jobs will be regulated as per the rules. It is also mentioned in it that this order will come into effect from January 5.
