The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, said that during the Awami League era, the biggest looting in world history took place in Bangladesh. During Sheikh Hasina’s rule, a system of thieves was established in the country. Giving big projects and work in exchange for money was the main principle of her government. The money laundered at that time is now being used to spread various propaganda. Through propaganda, they want to establish that a fundamentalist force has emerged here now, and there was no mass uprising. Defeated forces want to turn you into militants again.

Shafiqul Alam said this at a discussion titled ‘Role of the media in the July Revolution and future expectations’ at Jagannath University on Saturday (January 11).

Regarding the role of the media in the July Revolution, Shafiqul Alam said that many media outlets portrayed the protesters as ‘enemies of the nation’. Using the language of the media, the message was being given to the rulers that these protesters should be suppressed.

He also said that if the fascist power had won, then two hundred thousand people would have had to go to jail, and then the narrative would have been that some ‘rogue’ had created anarchy across the country.

Stating that journalism is not just a profession, it is a responsibility, Shafiqul Alam said, “We will analyze better who played what role in the July Revolution.” For this, he urged everyone to write down their experiences and observations.

While shedding light on the July-August movement, he said, “We will analyze better who played what role.” For this, Shafiqul Alam urged everyone to write down their experiences and observations. Writing is our national weakness. However, the events of the movement should be preserved in a diary.

At the event, PIB Director General Faruk Wasif said, “If the fascist government had been given another month, we would have seen another black night like March 25. Where teachers and journalists were targeted.” If there was a fascist government, it would take away the right of youth to get jobs.
