Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, stated that India is prepared to discuss all bilateral issues with Bangladesh through existing institutional mechanisms. India is keen to maintain a positive, constructive, and forward-looking relationship with Bangladesh.

He made these remarks yesterday (Tuesday) during a media briefing in New Delhi in response to questions regarding Bangladesh’s recent political landscape and whether bilateral relations are getting back on track.

Regarding reports that Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman might visit India in November, Jaiswal said, “I will let you know when I have something to say.”

When asked if India’s External Affairs Minister would hold a meeting with the Bangladeshi delegation at the UN General Assembly, he stated, “I have no information regarding that; if there are any developments in this regard, I will certainly inform you.”

On the same day, the Indian Air Force also held a briefing on the upcoming multilateral exercise ‘Tarang Shakti,’ revealing that Bangladesh is sending its C-130J aircraft to participate. In this context, when asked if India’s relationship with Dhaka is actually improving, Jaiswal replied, “As I have already told you, I have expressed our general perspective regarding our relationship with Bangladesh.”
