The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said, Sheikh Hasina should be brought back and face justice if she committed a crime.
Yesterday, Wednesday, in an event in the United States of America, Dr. Yunus said this. He is now in the United States to attend a session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 in a student uprising and went to India. Later on August 8, the Nobel Peace Prize winner. An interim government was formed under the leadership of Yunus.
The chief adviser of the interim government said that he does not have any time frame for when the elections will be held in Bangladesh. The commissions that have been formed are expected to make reform recommendations in the coming months. A date will then be fixed for the election.
Sheikh Hasina is currently in India. In response to the question whether he will be returned (extradition) or not. Yunus said, “Why not?”
Dr. Yunus also said, if he has committed a crime, he (Sheikh Hasina) should be brought back (extradited) and brought to justice.
Dr. Yunus said, he has no plans to stand for election. He countered by asking, ‘Do you think I will fight in the election?’

The ‘Paris Agreement’ was made to limit the effects of climate change. This global agreement came into effect in 2016.

The chief adviser of the interim government said, “The economic system we have created is the root of the destruction of this planet.” Dr. Yunus said, humans have created a ‘self-destructive civilization’.
Dr. Yunus said that whatever changes are made to the agreement, it will not make a difference unless the fundamental systems of the world are rearranged.
Dr. Yunus said, developing countries like Bangladesh should not bear the burden of climate damage caused by rich countries.
