Wahiduddin Mahmud, adviser to the Ministry of Education, said that the education system of our country is very unplanned, as a result of which the rate of educated unemployment is increasing. Universities have been built in district after district in the country, but adequate provision of employment has not been made.
He said these things in a discussion organized on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day. Meanwhile, the education advisor said that today’s event is to honor the teachers. I am a teacher myself, so I volunteered this responsibility. I have always had a sense of responsibility towards education. However, I felt guilty that I could not immediately fulfill the huge demands of the teachers.
The education advisor urged to pay special attention to the private secondary teachers and said that the private secondary teachers of the country are the most neglected. Low income makes it difficult for them to maintain professional focus. In this situation, improving the quality of education is not possible.
He alleged that there has been apathy and recruitment trade in the management board of private schools and colleges. Because of this, it was not possible to ensure quality in the recruitment process. The MPO teachers are forced to work in remote areas through qualification, which makes their living conditions miserable.
Emphasizing the moral responsibility of teachers, the adviser said, as teachers, we should establish a relationship with the students. It is the responsibility of teachers to look after their school attendance and other problems. Sincere attitude of teachers can solve many problems.
He also said that the biggest problem of our country is that the government revenue is very low compared to international standards. Due to this, education, health and social security cannot be ensured properly. However, if corruption in government expenditure can be reduced, it will be possible to increase expenditure in these sectors.
Highlighting the poor condition of the curriculum, Wahiduddin Mahmud said that it is very important to include the context of building a new country in school textbooks, but it was not possible to do it while revising the textbooks quickly. It will definitely be implemented in the future.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid’s chairmanship was attended by the advisor of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission Professor Dr. SMA Faiz and the head of UNESCO Dhaka office. Susan Wise.
