The police are not arresting the labor leader Amir Ali, who threatened to cut off journalist Nazmul’s hand in Jaintapur, Sylhet, for mysterious reasons. On the contrary, the OC himself is busy with the trouble. Although this sensational incident has created a stir on various social media platforms, Facebook, the Jaintapur Model Police Station and the Upazila Executive Officer are not budging. The arrow of suspicion is now towards the local administration.
Meanwhile, the journalists in charge of the Jaintapur Online Press Club have called for a strike at 2 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, in protest of the threat to cut off the journalist’s hand at the Jaintapur Muktijoddha Bijoy Swambhe. In addition, journalists from all classes and professions in Jaintapur have also expressed solidarity. This incident has spread panic among the journalists.
It has been learned that after joining Jaintapur Model Police Station, Abul Basar Mohammad Badruzzaman has become the center of discussion for his controversial activities one after another. He is secretly aiding those who have established a reign of terror in the border area of Jaintapur and is extorting a large amount of money. The unlimited violence of this OC, who is a supplier of illegal syndicates, smuggling, sand and stone, and land grabbing, is shocking people of all classes and professions.
A source has confirmed that he extorted money by threatening to get his name involved in the smuggling case. This has reached the hands of several mobile phone audio recordings. Several victims, on condition of anonymity, said that he extorted lakhs of rupees by threatening to get their names involved in the alleged case of Indian sugar scandal. Not only that, the Indians arrested two people with 50 sacks of sugar, but they showed them 25 sacks of sugar and sent them to court with a case. They hid the missing sugar and published the news through some local yellow journalists. Even then, the pictures of the detainees with the seized sugar went viral on social media Facebook. However, that night, they extorted about 70 thousand taka from two innocent people in this incident, saying that they would frame them in a case for harassment. Similarly, they extorted twenty thousand taka from another person in another incident.
If you watch a video that went viral on social media Facebook recently, it can be seen that when students and the public organized a human chain program meeting in Haripur area demanding the withdrawal of the OC, it was foiled by the leaders of a political party. There, he is involved in the implementation agenda of the political party, ignoring the preconditions for the formation of a non-discriminatory state. At that time, when the Sylhet District Superintendent of Police was contacted on his official mobile phone regarding this matter, he clarified and told the reporter, this is not a matter of air, if there is any complaint against him, they should file a written complaint. What kind of sudden human chain against him is this? In response to another question, he said, no, the police are not working for any party, we do not understand any party, we understand the law.
In response to another question, he avoided the whole issue and said, I do not know why the human chain program meeting was hijacked by the words of the leaders and activists of the political party. No such thing was said on behalf of my police. At one stage, he got angry and said, this is their matter, but I do not know about the matter going viral, but I know about it again!
After such a hellish incident, the OC has now created a stir after sheltering the person who threatened journalist Nazmul. He is continuing to lobby for a settlement of the matter to protect the main instigators of environmental destruction, the illegal sand miners. He has indulged in such immoral activities without bringing the culprit under the law. It is noteworthy that the alleged OC extorted money rather than justice.
It is alleged that after joining the Jaintapur market, this distant OC extorted lakhs of taka from Indian goods and cattle and buffaloes every night. This extortion was collected using the BGB Rajbari camp. He also received large sums of extortion from hill (tilla) destroyers and stone excavators in the Goabari area of Jaintapur. After he came to Jaintapur, two people lost their lives in the Indian border area. This latest time, he is threatening journalists with death.
When contacted on the mobile phone of Jaintapur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Basar Mohammad Badruzzaman, no statement was received as his mobile phone was not receiving.
When contacted on the mobile phone, the Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer said that the audio recording of the journalist’s hand being cut off has reached him. He said that he will contact the police and take legal action. In response to another question, he said that I do not have the cooperation of journalists in collecting any information. If someone uses my name there, it is their personal matter.
