The Election Commission (EC) will start the process of updating the voter list by going door to door from January 20. Election Commission (EC) Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz confirmed the matter on Monday (December 30).

Ali Newaz said, we hope to be able to start this process in the second half of January 2025. We have already completed the preparations. We will be able to complete the training of trainers in this regard by January 5. Those who receive this training will train the field personnel who will go door to door to collect information.

He said, the draft voter list will be published on January 2. We will make it open to everyone. The public will get the opportunity to see it. If anyone is left out from there, an arrangement will be made to resolve their claims and objections. After the claims and objections are resolved, the final voter list will be published on March 2. We do this work every year. We will consider this as the 24th update and 25th voter list.

Stating that we will go door to door to collect information for the next one year and update the voter list, he said, “We will not only collect information for 25th. At the same time, we will also collect information about those who will turn 18 on January 1, 26th. We will include them in the 2026 voter list. However, they will not be considered voters in any election in 25th.”

Calling on all citizens of the country, he said, “When the data collectors go door to door, they will cooperate with them by providing accurate information.”
