Five people, including a child, were burned while setting off fireworks on New Year’s Day

Five people, including a child, were burned in separate incidents while setting off fireworks to celebrate the English New Year in the capital. They were admitted to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday (December 31) night after sustaining burns.

The burn victims are Farhan (8), Sifan Mallick (12), Sumat (20), Sentu (45) and Tafsir (3).

On Wednesday (January 1), Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed the matter.

He said that five people, including a child, were burned while setting off fireworks on New Year’s Day. Later, they were brought to the emergency department of the Burn Institute. Of these, Farhan suffered 15 percent burns on his body, Sifan Mallick suffered 1 percent, Sumat suffered 1 percent, Sentu suffered 2 percent and Tafsir suffered 2 percent burns.
