The 46th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal was celebrated with colorful arrangements in Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet.
On Wednesday (January 1) at 2 pm, a discussion meeting, colorful rally and cake cutting and food distribution ceremony among pedestrians were held jointly by Jaintapur Upazila and College Chhatra Dal.
After the discussion meeting at 2 pm in the Upazila Auditorium, a rally left the Upazila Gate at 2:15 pm and circled the main roads of Jaintapur Bazar, Tamabil Road.
After the rally, a short gathering was held at the historic Hiradebi ground, chaired by Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Shaon Alam and conducted by Upazila Chhatra Dal acting member secretary M Shahin Alam. Abdul Matin, former convener of Jaintapur Upazila BNP and former chairman of Fatehpur Union Parishad No. 5, spoke as the chief guest.
Also speaking at the event were former general secretary of Jaintapur Upazila BNP and former (ward no. 4) member of Sylhet District Council Muhibul Haque Muhib, general secretary of Upazila BNP Md. Abdul Hafiz, convener of Upazila Jubo Dal and chairman of No. 4 Darvast Union Parishad Baharul Alam Bahar, vice-president of Upazila BNP Suel Ahmed, former convener of Upazila Chhatra Dal Nasir Uddin, member secretary of Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal Abdullah Ilias, general secretary of Upazila Sramik Dal Saiful Islam, joint convener of Upazila Chhatra Dal Imran Ahmed, and others.
Also present were Jaintapur Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary and Chairman of No. 1 Nijpath Union Parishad Intaz Ali, former convener of Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal Altaf Hossain Bilal, Joint Convener of Upazila Chhatra Dal Abdul Matin Khasru, Suleman Ahmed, Tofail Ahmed, Jahangir Alam, members Faruk Ahmed, Emon Ahmed Emu, Mahfuz Ahmed, Hazrat Shahjalal Roh. Degree College Chhatra Dal Convener Shah Mohammad Kibria, Jaintia Degree College Chhatra Dal Convener Koyesh Ahmed Limon, Member Secretary Zubair Ahmed, Tayyab Ali Degree College Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Alim Uddin, etc.
In addition, leaders of 6 union and college branches of Jaintapur Upazila Chhatra Dal and a large number of leaders and activists of its constituent organizations were present.
The speakers highlighted the glorious history of Chhatra Dal and called for further strengthening the organization. They emphasized the active role of the youth in taking the continuity of the nationalist movement forward.
After the short rally, a cake cutting ceremony and food distribution ceremony were held at the historic Hiradebi ground at 3 pm in the presence of all the leaders of the Upazila and College Chhatra Dal.
It is worth noting that on January 1, 1979, BNP founder Ziaur Rahman formed Chhatra Dal by embracing the three fundamental principles of education, unity and progress. In the eighties, Chhatra Dal had a significant position in the student parliaments of the country’s educational institutions. The organization was also seen at the forefront of the anti-dictatorship movement in the nineties or in various movements and struggles thereafter.
