Abducted English expatriate Bilal Ullah, a resident of North Shyamoli area of Habiganj city, has been rescued from Srimangal. The police have recovered the motorcycle used by the kidnappers and the mobile phone of the kidnapped English expatriate. At that time, the kidnappers escaped.
Police sources said that at around 10:30 am on Monday, Billat Ullah, an English expatriate from Gunai village of Baniachang upazila of Habiganj city, came to Srimangal for a visit. At that time, members of the kidnapper’s gang cleverly kidnapped him and brought him to a house in the College Road area of Sreemangal city. At around 2 pm, the kidnappers called Billat Ullah’s house and demanded a ransom of 6 lakhs. Otherwise, they threatened to kill him and hide his body. Fearing the kidnappers’ threats, the Bilat Ullah family gave the kidnappers 2 lakh taka through BKash. Later, the kidnappers demanded another 4 lakh taka as ransom.
Later, Billat Ullah’s younger brother Sheikh Jalal filed a written complaint in this regard at Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station. In this context, Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station Police, DB Police, RAB, PBI kept an eye on the kidnappers through mobile tagging. In particular, a team led by Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station OC Investigation Sajal Sarkar, SI Saiful Islam and DB Police SI Shihab Uddin and SI Mahmudul Hasan conducted a raid at various places in Habiganj and Srimangal throughout the night to catch them. At around 4 am, the police confirmed through mobile tagging that a team of the kidnappers was staying in the Adhyapasha area. At that time, the police directly talked to the kidnapped Billat Ullah’s younger brother Jalal to give the kidnappers 4 lakh taka. At one point, Sheikh Jalal spoke to the kidnappers.
The kidnappers said that he had put the money in a bag on the side of the road in the Laskarpur area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. According to the kidnappers, Sheikh Jalal had put the money bag there. Shortly after putting the money bag, two members of the kidnappers came on a motorcycle to take the money bag. At that time, when the kidnappers chased them, the kidnappers left the motorcycle and the kidnapped Billat Ullah mobile phone and ran away through the haor. Meanwhile, the kidnappers detained Billat Ullah, an expatriate from England, and tortured him throughout the night.
On Tuesday night, the police also conducted a raid in Srimangal. In this regard, Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station OC Investigation Sajal Sarkar said, our raid is underway to arrest the kidnappers. A case will be filed in this regard.
