We want to come out of the behavior of the past 15 years: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka //

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali said, the morale of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police after August 5 last year has created some immediate problems. We are trying to overcome them. We have seen what a society without police can be like after August 5. Theft, robbery and robbery increased. However, in the last five months, we have been able to bring those crimes under control to a great extent.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association organized at the Dhaka Club on Wednesday morning.

He said, we want to come out of the behavior that the members have behaved in the past 15 years. For that, time is needed. All my officers need special training. It is not possible to suddenly change 40,000 police members. So we are starting training. We are keeping an eye on where and how much force to use. You will already get the proof of which. Providing security to the people of Dhaka is our sacred duty. That is why we are working.

Dhaka is home to 20 to 25 million people. Among them, the poor, lower class and unemployed are in high numbers. In addition, various social problems fall on the shoulders of the police.

Recently, various groups and communities have chosen roads to demand small demands. They think that their demands will be met if they occupy the roads. As a result, the fragile traffic system of Dhaka city is in a more fragile state. As a result, people spend hours on the roads.

There are very few north-south roads in Dhaka. When a road is blocked, everything stops. You should choose open spaces, auditoriums for demanding demands. Call the concerned authorities to discuss and solve the problem. Do not further weaken the traffic system of Dhaka residents.

The crime that has recently become a cause of concern in the minds of people is robbery. Most of these robberies are committed by young drug addicts. Boys aged 20 to 22 are getting involved in various crimes to earn money from drugs. Most of these robberies happen while talking in buses and private cars. Keep your mobile and bag safe to avoid robbers. I have taken a comprehensive decision against robbers. In addition to increasing patrols day and night, DB police have been given the responsibility.
