The prices of farm chicken eggs and broilers and golden chickens are fixed by the Department of Agriculture Marketing. The price of each dozen eggs is about 142 Tk. And broiler chicken will be sold at 180 per kg.

This information has been informed in a letter signed by the director general of the Department of Livestock Mohammad Rayazul Haque on Sunday. According to the letter, this ‘reasonable price’ of eggs and chickens for the year 2024 has been determined based on the opinion of the Joint Working Group consisting of the leaders of various organizations and institutions related to the Department of Livestock and Poultry Sector.

It will be sold at 4 paise. Apart from this, the retail price of each egg will be kept at 11 taka 87 paisa. It will cost 142 taka 44 paisa per dozen eggs.

The letter from the Department of Livestock also said that the price of broiler chicken per kg will be sold at the price of 168 taka 91 paisa at the production level and 172 taka 61 paisa at the wholesale level. On the other hand, golden chicken will be sold at the production level of 260 taka 78 paisa and wholesale at 264 taka 57 paisa per kg.

At the production stage, the price of each egg will be 10 taka 58 paisa, which will be 11 taka zero 1 paisa in wholesale.

Earlier, at the beginning of this month, the Ministry of Agriculture requested to take necessary measures regarding the price determination of chicken and eggs. Besides, instructions are given from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to properly implement the rational price of these products. In view of this today the Directorate of Agriculture Marketing has fixed the rational price of eggs and chicken.

In the letter sent to various organizations and institutions related to the poultry sector, it has been requested to take necessary measures to properly implement the fixed rational price of chicken (golden and broiler) and eggs (at production, wholesale and retail level) for the current year 2024.
