142 illegal immigrants including Bangladeshis detained in Malaysia

The country’s immigration department arrested 142 illegal immigrants, including Bangladeshis, in a 3-day operation in Negeri Simbilan state of Malaysia.

They were arrested in raids at 34 locations around the state’s Kuala Pilah area from June 28 to 30.

Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department (JIMNS) director Kenneth Tan Ai Kiang said a total of 315 people’s documents were checked during the operation. A total of 142 people have been arrested for various crimes as they do not have valid documents. Among them are 26 from Myanmar, 6 from Pakistan, 71 from Indonesia, 32 from Bangladesh, 5 from Cambodia and 2 from India, totaling 142 people. The age of the detainees is between 21 and 54 years.

Director Kenneth Tan Ai Kiang said in a statement on Monday, July 1, that the operation was conducted based on local complaints and intelligence. A few foreigners tried to escape during the operation. Not only that, some of them clashed with law and order forces to escape the raid.
