Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman commented that we are all Bangladeshis regardless of religion and caste in Bangladesh. He made this comment in a speech on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashami on Saturday (October 12). Tariq Rahman said, I strongly believe that there should be inviolable provisions of equal rights and equal protection for every citizen of Bangladesh, irrespective of whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists or Christians. Our country as a united nation includes all communities of people. Together we form a collective community that sets a unique example of ensuring the safety of all, regardless of caste or creed. I extend my warm greetings to all concerned on this joyous festival of Durga Puja. May this festival fill every home with prosperity, harmony and peace and spread mutual goodwill and solidarity among all communities. I wish you all the success of this Sharidiya Durgotsava.
He said that autumn Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community in Bangladesh and other countries of the world. Kashful and winter all around Bangladesh in the autumn convey the message of this festival. The festival has been celebrated in Sambar for centuries. In Bangladesh, Durga Puja is always celebrated in a festive atmosphere. And the festival is the revelation of light from the jewel of darkness. Whatever the religion of the festival, the festival grounds are open for all people, the Acting Chairman of BNP said, the doors of the festival grounds are never closed. Any religious festival creates a close bond between people, a feeling of sympathy and brotherhood is awakened. The motto of all religions is patriotism, peace and human welfare. It is the duty of all of us to vow to establish peace and equality in the society against a barbaric war of violence.
He said, the underlying message of Durga Puja is to destroy the demons of violence, greed and anger and establish heavenly peace in the society, where human equality and justice will be ensured. The underlying urge of this worship is to fight against those who want to destroy the society, human civilization and establish bad governance through oppression and revenge. Everyone should share the joy of the festival of Durga Puja by imbibing that message. The scope of the festival is not narrow, rather it is open and universal. On the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashami, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, Tariq Rahman extended his sincere greetings and congratulations to all Hindus and wished them happiness, peace and welfare.
In another message, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that autumn Durga Puja has a special place in the lives of all the Bengali-speaking Hindu community. This religious festival has a rich tradition in the subcontinent since ages. Any religious festival transcends communal divides and the gathering of all in the festival is an eternal image of brotherhood. The festival of Autumn Durga Puja brings heavenly joy and good wishes to everyone. Festivals not only bring people together, but indirectly connect different communities in various ways. Any religious festival is a meeting place for all people in the nation-state. BNP believes in religious freedom and values in line with contemporary global consciousness and tradition.
Mirza Fakhrul said, recently during the period of the fallen Awami government, communal incitement, various religious places of worship, and Hindu temples were repeatedly attacked and vandalized. At present, the people of the country are united and guarding the Hindu community and the temple to prevent the attack of the evil cycle. So that autumn Durga Puja can be completed smoothly through peace and coexistence. Destroyers of communal harmony are enemies of the country and humanity. Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP is committed to resist them.
