Daily Amar Desh will start re-publishing by next December, said Mahmudur Rahman, editor of the newspaper. He said this at an event in the capital on Friday (October 18).

Mahmudur Rahman said, we need money to rebuild the printing press, we don’t have it. It is time consuming. Initiatives have been taken to print from other presses. Setting up the office is now the challenge. My Desh Patrika will be published again by December.

Describing the damage, he said that more than 25 crores of damage was done to various items including machines. Also, another 10 crore rupees worth of paper was lost. The loss of the press of my country newspaper is 35 crore rupees. I oppose all laws that curtail the freedom of journalism.

The editor of Amar Desh said that the fascist government has turned the printing press of Amar Desh newspaper into a pile of rubble for 11 years. When the administration explained to me, nothing was left. All looted. Sheikh Hasina has not been able to dismember me but has dismembered my press. This is the nature of fascism.

Mahmudur Rahman said, the ministers of the then government slandered that they started the fire themselves because they wanted to get insurance money. Most of the owner editors were happy to destroy Aam Desh Patrika. Just as the role of the army was behind Sheikh Hasina becoming a fascist, so was the role of the media.
