Police have recovered the body of a Saudi expatriate housewife from Gumitia village in Madhabpur municipality of Habiganj district. Police recovered the body of the deceased by breaking the door of the house around 7 am on Monday (January 6).

The deceased housewife is Asma Akhter (28), the wife of Saudi expatriate Jahangir Alam of Gumutia village and daughter of Abdul Hai of Chandana village in Ward No. 9 of Chunarughat municipality.

It is learned that Asma married Jahangir about three and a half years ago. They have a 7-month-old daughter named Arisa Akhter. However, the police are not able to immediately say whether it was a murder or a suicide.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s sister Rabeya Akhter Ratna has alleged that her sister was often beaten by her mother-in-law Nurjahan Begum, sister-in-law Taslima Akhter and brother-in-law Mosharraf Hossain.

Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said – After receiving the news of the incident, the police went in the morning and recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known when the report comes.
