Kamalganj (Moulvibazar) Correspondent //
Sheikh Hasina made a discriminatory agreement with India. Now their trade and commerce has decreased. India is again talking from their place for business. We will not accept if anyone does wrong from within the country and outside the country.
Sarjis Alam, the main organizer of the National Citizens Committee, said these things at the tea workers’ rally at Kurma Tea Garden ground in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar yesterday, Sunday afternoon.
He said, if anyone in the future does syndicate and extortion, protest from your place. Remember, those who do wrong are few in number. If you stand up, they will run away like Sheikh Hasina.
Sarjis Alam also said that it is not possible to develop this industry by neglecting tea workers. Sarjis Alam said that tea workers’ wages, education, health, housing and jobs must be ensured. In addition, to protect the tea industry, all closed tea gardens, including the National Tea Company (NTC), must be reopened immediately.
Under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Tea Workers Union Manu-Dhalai Valley President Dhana Bauri and jointly moderated by tea workers Apan Bonarji Rudra and Bhimpal Singha Bhola, National Citizen Committee Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar, National Citizen Committee Central Organizer Pritam Das, Central Coordinator Shyamoli Sultana Jenny, Asadullah Ghalib and Kurma Tea Garden Assistant Manager Yusuf Khan, Tea Worker Daughter Former Upazila Vice Chairman Khairun Akhter, Local UP Member Nurul Islam, Kurma Tea Garden Panchayat President Narad Pashi, Tea Worker Women Leader Geeta Kanu, Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Nazmin Sultana, etc. Later, Sarjis Alam addressed a gathering at the Shaheed Minar in Srimangal Municipality.
