A friendly football match was held in Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet to mark the 46th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal, organized by Jaintapur Upazila and College Chhatra Dal.

On Thursday (January 2), keeping in mind the slogan “Sports are power, sports are balls, leave drugs and go to the field” and “Education is unity, progress, the main principle of Chhatra Dal”, the 6 unions of the upazila were divided into two teams at the historic Ferighat football ground of the upazila. The two teams, Sabuj Dal (No. 1 Nijpath, No. 2 Jaintapur, No. 3 Charikata Union) and Lal Dal (No. 4 Darvast, No. 5 Fatepur, No. 6 Chiknagul Union), participated in the game.

Among the two teams, Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Shaon Alam was appointed as the team manager of the Sabuj team and acting member secretary M Shaheen Alam was appointed as the team manager of the Sabuj team. Jaintapur Upazila BNP general secretary Abdul Hafiz was present as the chief guest to conduct the game.

Jaintapur Upazila BNP organizing secretary and No. 1 Nijpath Union Parishad chairman Intaz Ali, BNP leader Harunor Rashid were present as special guests. Members, Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Sabbir Ahmed, Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal Convener Shahjahan Ahmed, Member Secretary Abdullah Ilias, Upazila Sramik Dal General Secretary Saiful Islam, Krishak Dal General Secretary Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Imran Ahmed, Abdul Matin Khasru, Tofail Ahmed, Jahangir Alam, Members Faruk Ahmed, Emon Ahmed Emu, Mahfuz Ahmed and others were present.

Also present were Jaintapur Taib Ali Degree College Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Alim Uddin, Jaintia Degree College Chhatra Dal Convener Koyesh Ahmed Limon, Member Secretary Zubair Ahmed, Hazrat Shahjalal Rah. Degree College Chhatra Dal Convener Shah Mohammad Kibria, Chhatra Dal leaders Nadim Ahmed, Noman Ahmed, Mamunur Rashid and others.

After the game, the leaders of the Upazila Chhatra Dal and College Chhatra Dal presented awards to the winning and runner-up teams of the two teams participating in the game, and the Man of the Match to the players of both teams. They also presented mementos to the guests.
