Thieves enter wearing shirts and pants, leave wearing girls’ clothes, loot goods worth Tk 5 lakh

A daring theft took place in the afternoon at Tamim Clothing Store in Ghatia Bazar in Habiganj city. The theft took place on Saturday (December 4) at around 11 am by cutting the ceiling of the store.

The employees of the store said that Saturday was a weekend. Due to which the store was not open in the morning. They came to the store in the afternoon and found evidence of theft. The thieves entered by cutting the ceiling of the store and stole valuable clothes. Among them, 40 sarees and lehengas, 20 unready dresses, 30 three-pieces and 20 bundles of lungis. The estimated value of these goods is more than Tk 5 lakh.

However, the CCTV camera shows that the young thief entered the ventilator and took the girls’ clothes and left. Upon receiving the news, BRAC President Shamsul Huda, General Secretary Dewan Alamgir, and other leaders and police visited the scene.

Habiganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Kabir told The Daily Morning Sun that upon receiving the news of the theft, the police visited the scene and collected CCTV footage. The police are investigating the matter. The theft has spread panic among traders. Local traders have demanded that security be strengthened and police patrols in the market be increased.
